It's an understatement to say that Jason Coffman enjoyed a dominant college lacrosse career.

What's better than dominant? Coffman's statistics.

Coffman, the former Carthage athlete, finished his four-year career at Salisbury State with 249 goals and 202 assists. His total of 451 points still stands as the NCAA record for scoring at all levels of lacrosse.

The statistics translated into wins, too. During his career at Salisbury State, Coffman's teams compiled a 60-2 record, with both losses coming during national tournament play. Coffman also won Division III national championships with the Sea Gulls in 1994 and '95.

He graduated from Salisbury State in 1996 as a four-time, first-team All-American and two-time national player of the year.

Coffman participated in football, wrestling and lacrosse at Carthage, where he graduated in 1992. That year, he became Carthage's first high school All-American in lacrosse.

After his playing career ended, he returned to work at Carthage, where he teaches physical education at the high school. He's the defensive coordinator for the Carthage football team and the head coach of the Comets' junior varsity lacrosse team.

His brother, Josh, was a standout lacrosse player at Syracuse University. Their late father, Terry, was a longtime football coach at Carthage.

In 2006, Jason Coffman was inducted into Salisbury's Athletics Hall of Fame.
