Michael F. Phillips, 57, Cary, N.C., formerly of Black River, died March 5 at his home. He had been ill with lung cancer related to exposure to asbestos.
Mr. Phillips worked for 23 years at New York Air Brake Co. and Knorr Brake Holding Corp.
Born March 20, 1950, in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, son of Howard L. Jr. and Elizabeth Prouty Phillips, he graduated from Belleville Union Academy and attended Jefferson Community College for a year. He lived in Black River for many years.
He married Penny Talbot on Jan. 25, 1975.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Kimberly Phillips, North Carolina; his mother, Elizabeth Phillips, Watertown; a sister, Brenda Phillips, Florida; a brother and his wife, Howard L. III and Ann, Rodman; an uncle and aunt, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
His father died in November 1979.
There will be no funeral or calling hours. The body was cremated. Arrangements are with National Crematory, Raleigh, N.C.
