Olive K. Masters

ANTWERP — Olive K. Masters, 91, formerly of Madison Avenue, died Thursday at Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Carthage, where she resided.

She was a homemaker.

Born Feb. 6, 1917, in Carlton Place, Ontario, daughter of John A. and Mary Perry Porteous, she attended school in Carlton Place.

She married John Edwin Masters on June 6, 1939, in Carlton Place. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in Antwerp for many years. Mr. Masters, a village of Antwerp employee, died Sept. 15, 1972.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking and reading.

Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and Dean Mason, Gouverneur, Gloria Jean Hendrickson, Antwerp, Deborah and Jerod Hamilton, Gastonia, N.C., and Edith "Faye" and Don Norton, Theresa; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Irene Dewey and Melvina Craig, died before her.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with the Rev. Kenneth Leamon, pastor of Antwerp First Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.

There are no calling hours.
