BRASHER FALLS — Ronald A. Lalonde, 71, Brasher Falls, died Tuesday morning at his home.
Mr. Lalonde was employed for 30 years at General Motors, Massena, retiring in 1991.
Born Jan. 18, 1937, in Massena, son of Omer and Yvonne Bissonette Lalonde, he attended St. Lawrence Central School, where he recently earned recognition in the SLC Hall of Fame for basketball, baseball and football.
He married Sharon Rust on March 12, 1960, at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam.
Mr. Lalonde enjoyed hunting, boating, bowling, and watching all types of sports, especially the New York Yankees.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Mark, Winthrop; three daughters, Cathy Shirey, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Janine Murray and Sandra Kirby, both of Brasher Falls; three brothers and their wives, Robert and Nancy, Massena, and Ivan and Donna and Jacques and Donna, all of Brasher Falls; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Florette LaShomb, Massena, Ginger Jacot, Parishville, Lillian and Robert King, Moira, and Paula and Dale Wells, Potsdam; 10 granddaughters, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Raymond, and three sisters, Giselle Gibson, Patricia Stowell and Lorraine Cootware, died before him.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church, Brasher Falls, with the Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brasher Falls.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop.
