Potsdam rallies, nips SLC
BOYS LACROSSE: Surge in fourth lifts Sandstoners to win

POTSDAM — Brandon Jerome scored the last of his three goals late in the fourth quarter to help the Potsdam come from behind and defeat St. Lawrence, 7-6, in a Northern Athletic Conference boys lacrosse game Tuesday.

Corey Bercume supplied one goal and one assist, while Joe DiTullio made 10 saves for Potsdam (7-2 overall, 6-1 league).

Kevin Logan scored twice, including the last goal of the game, for the Larries (6-4, 5-4).

SARANAC LAKE 9, HEUVELTON 4

Keegan Muldowney netted five goals to pace the Red Storm in an NAC victory over the Bulldogs in Saranac Lake.

Mike Phelabaum added two goals for Saranac Lake (4-2, 3-2).

Francis Sharpe made a pair of goals and assisted on another for Heuvelton (1-10, 1-7). Tom Blackburn recorded 17 saves.

CANTON 14, MASSENA 12

David Pynchon scored four goals for the Golden Bears in an NAC game against the Red Raiders in Massena.

Sam Bradman racked up six points on two goals and four assists for Canton (7-3, 5-2).

Matt Thompson led Massena (2-7, 1-6) with four goals and one assist. Luke Purser made 16 saves for the Red Raiders.

SALMON RIVER 19,

COLTON-PIERREPONT 0

The Thompson boys compiled 10 goals between them, and the Shamrocks opened the NAC game with 12 first-quarter goals in Fort Covington.

Ty Thompson had five goals, Miles Thompson scored three times, and Lyle Thompson added two goals and an assist for Salmon River (8-0).

Alek Gravlin made 15 stops for Colton-Pierrepont (0-8).

LOWVILLE 9, IHC 8 (OT)

Matthew Graveley assisted on the game-tying goal and scored the game-winner as visiting Lowville rallied to defeat Immaculate Heart Central in a Frontier League game.

Mark Nortz tied the game and finished with one goal and one assist for the Red Raiders (5-6, 3-3). Steven Martin led Lowville with four goals.

Tyler Prevost contributed three goals for the Cavaliers (6-5, 4-3).

GIRLS LACROSSE

CARTHAGE 21, INDIAN RIVER 2

Katie Ferris scored nine goals and added two assists as the Comets raced to a 17-1 halftime lead en route to a Frontier League victory at Carthage.

Alanna Piroli contributed three goals and two assists, Kailah Kempney had three goals and one assist, and Katherine DeRonda supplied two goals and five assists for Carthage (8-3, 6-0).

Lizzie Penree and Kayleigh Olsen scored for the Warriors (2-8, 0-6).

CANTON 20, HEUVELTON 5

Christy Foster scored six goals and tallied one assist to lead the Golden Bears past the Bulldogs in an NAC matchup in Heuvelton.

Teresa Goolden added two goals and four assists for Canton (7-2, 6-0). Shannon Flanagan scored twice and assisted on two others for the Golden Bears.

Emily Bush paced Heuvelton (4-6, 4-2) with three goals. Lindsey Tennant contributed one goal and one assist.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

MALONE TAKES TWO

Jessica Farmer won three individual events to lead Malone to a pair of NAC wins in a double-dual meet at Norwood.

The Huskies (6-0) picked up a 1991/2-1191/2 win over Norwood-Norfolk and beat Madrid-Waddington 210-106. Norwood-Norfolk (2-2) picked up a 179-137 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Farmer won the 100, 200 and long jump for Malone. Ashley Lamica (1,500 and 3,000), Kaylie Lamica (400 hurdles and triple jump) and Amanda Gadway (discus and shot put) each were multiple-event winners for Malone.

Jenn Curley won the 400 and high jump to lead Madrid-Waddington (1-4).

WILDCATS SWEEP

Justine Ward and Carrie Hayes each won two events to lead Gouverneur to a 1711/2-1471/2 win over Tupper Lake and a 182-105 win over Canton in a double-dual NAC meet in Gouverneur. Tupper Lake beat Canton 167-125.

Ward won the triple jump and high jump for Gouverneur (3-0), and Hayes picked up wins in the shot put and discus.

Kyla Kenyon won the 100, 200 and 400 hurdles for Tupper Lake (4-2). Maggie Lapinski won the 400 and 800 for Canton (1-5).

SPARTANS REMAIN UNDEFEATED

Leana Poirier won the shot put and discus to lead South Jefferson to victory over both Altmar-Parish-Williamstown, 108-32, and Beaver River, 1012/3-391/3, in a Frontier League tri-meet in Adams Center.

Beaver River earned a split by defeating APW, 82-59.

Cali Hutchinson won the 100 and high jump, and Brittany Moody added wins in the 100 hurdles and pole vault for South Jefferson (6-0).

Sue Fassler won the 200 for APW (2-4).

Tari Lyndaker captured first in the 1,500 for Beaver River (1-3).

WARRIORS ROLL

Sugar Dawson won the long and high jumps as Indian River defeated Watertown, 106-31, and Carthage, 116-23, in a Frontier League tri-meet in Philadelphia. Watertown defeated Carthage, 70-66, to record its first win of the season.

Geneen Dore captured the 100 and triple jump for Indian River (7-0).

Amanda White was fastest in the 1,500 for Watertown (1-5).

Carthage dropped to 1-3 on the season.

LOOMIS LEADS SOUTH LEWIS

Shelby Loomis won in the 200 and 400 as South Lewis swept a Frontier League tri-meet in Turin.

South Lewis (4-2) defeated Sandy Creek, 113-28, and Lowville, 78-63. Lowville defeated Sandy Creek, 100-35.

Ashley Panowicz won the long jump and finished second in the 100 for Lowville (3-1).

Fantasia Grossman was first in the shot put and discus for Sandy Creek (0-6).
