CORNING — Sara Morse pounded out a grand slam home run in the third inning, and the second-seeded Corning Community College softball team earned a convincing 12-3 victory over No. 7 Jefferson CC in a five-inning, Region 3 sub-regional playoff game Tuesday.

Emily Scudder finished with two home runs, Nicky Brown also belted a homer, and Megan Myers struck out eight batters for the Red Barons (24-8), who finished with 14 hits.

Eliza Gaines went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Stacey Peterson belted a two-run double, and Emily Patterson added the other hit for the Cannoneers (22-13).
