BALTIMORE, Md. — Syracuse University senior attackman Mike Leveille has been selected as one of five finalists for the 2008 Tewaaraton Trophy, which is given to the nation's top lacrosse player.
Leveille joins Virginia's Ben Rubeor, Paul Rabil of Johns Hopkins, and Duke's Matt Danowski and Zach Greer as the final nominees for college lacrosse's most prestigious award.
Leveille, a Delmar native, leads the Orange in points (64), goals (38) and assists (26) this season. He's averaging 4.57 points per game, which ranks fifth nationally. He currently owns the nation's second-longest scoring streak, connecting for at least one point in 53 consecutive games.
Syracuse opens the NCAA Tournament with a first-round game against Canisius on Sunday at the Carrier Dome. The third-seeded Orange host the Golden Griffins at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
