Mary Carolyn Gendron, 86, formerly of Watertown, died May 2 in Palm Springs, Calif., where she had lived for nine years.
Mrs. Gendron retired after 20 years of employment with the state Department of Transportation, Watertown.
Born Oct. 20, 1921, in Watertown, she was a daughter of J. Thomas and Margaret Rooney.
She married Joseph F. Medwick on Feb. 15, 1942, at Pine Camp, later known as Fort Drum. He died June 27, 1963.
She married Maurice Gerard Gendron. He died in 1983. After Mr. Gendron's death, Mrs. Gendron moved to Somerset, N.J., and then to La Mesa, Calif., before settling in Palm Springs.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, attending the theater, watching ice hockey games and knitting afghans, sweaters, and clothes for her family.
Surviving are six sons, Thomas G. Medwick, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Peter G. Medwick, Maui, Hawaii, Michael P. Medwick, Palm Springs, Joseph F. Medwick, Rhineback, Bill Gendron, Rome, and James Gendron, Watertown; three daughters, Andrea Lee McDonough, Brandon, Fla., and Jane Gendron and Elizabeth Didas, both of Watertown; a sister, Lucille Kern, Madrid, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be no funeral or calling hours.
The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to San Diego,Palm Springs or local Hospice programs.
