CANTON — A 19-year-old Ogdensburg man is to be sentenced to probation and up to six months in jail after admitting Monday in St. Lawrence County Court that he shook and injured his girlfriend's 9-month-old son in March.
William L. LaRock Jr.,pleaded guilty to a felony count of reckless assault on a child. He was released under probation supervision pending sentencing July 7.
Mr. LaRock admitted shaking Trenton M. Cushing, 910 New York Ave., Ogdensburg, after the infant woke up suddenly and began crying. The child was treated at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for bleeding on the brain and later was released.
In other proceedings,Donald J. Gauthier,37, Ogdensburg, was sentenced to seven years in prison for trying to force a former girlfriend to have oral sex in March 2007. He pleaded guilty Feb. 27 to criminal sexual act.
Mr. Gauthier will be allowed to serve the prison sentence at the same time he serves a six-year sentence imposed in February for assault after he admitted violating a probationary sentence. He was ordered to pay $1,370 in court fees.
Jeffrey S. Cohen,23, a former St. Lawrence University student from Chester, Conn., who pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine in April 2007, was granted a three-year conditional discharge after completing a year on interim probation.
Paul A. Fregoe,24, Massena, who pleaded guilty in March to rape after being accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl, was placed on interim probation pending sentencing May 4.
Corey W. Heald,18, Massena, was sentenced to five years' probation for criminal mischief. He pleaded guilty in March 2007 following a vandalism spree in Massena and was sentenced after completing interim probation. He was granted youthful offender status.
Howard E. Patton,47, Waddington, who pleaded guilty in March to felony driving while intoxicated, was placed on interim probation pending sentencing May 4. He must pay a $2,000 fine and $295 in court fees.
Thomas J. Winkler,22, a Suffolk County resident who took part in a robbery at Riverside Liquors, Canton, on Nov. 27, 2006, was sentenced to five years' probation after successfully completing 18 months on interim probation. He pleaded guilty in August 2006 to attempted robbery and paid $1,400.30 restitution before sentencing. He was ordered to pay a $50 court fee.
Duane L. Walrath,27, North Lawrence, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual act. He admitted having sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl in North Lawrence in June. He is to be sentenced June 23.
Cory D. Cameron,29, Ogdensburg, pleaded innocent to forgery and criminal impersonation. He is accused of signing his brother's name on two state police traffic tickets.
Aaron S. Cardinell,25, DePeyster, pleaded innocent to three counts of criminal sexual act and one count each of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He is accused of having oral sex with a 15-year-old girl in Gouverneur in December.
Nicholas A. Delosh,20, Potsdam, pleaded innocent to criminal contempt of court and attempted assault. The charges stem from a Nov. 3 domestic dispute.
Angela M. Lavare,27, Massena, pleaded innocent to three counts each of unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of criminal sexual act. She is charged with providing alcohol to three underage drinkers, having oral sex with an underage girl and giving marijuana to an 14-year-old boy in December.
Robert E. Thomas,27, Ogdensburg, pleaded innocent to burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief and petit larceny. He is accused of burglarizing a home in the town of Oswegatchie in January and with possessing a stolen shotgun.
