Sullivan County Community College baseball coach Mike Marra, a former Watertown resident, has been named the 2008 NJCAA Region XV Division II Coach of the Year.

Marra in his third season guiding the Generals, led his team to the school's first ever regional championship. Sullivan dropped its baseball program after the 1986 season and reinstated it in 2006 when they hired Marra to revive the program.

"When I was hired there was no field, no uniforms, I had no office, no money to recruit, and no players," Marra said. "What we've been able to accomplish as a program still in its infancy, just three years in is impressive by any standard.''

Marra coached at the high school level for eight seasons (John A Coleman 1993-95, Kingston HS 2000-'04), leading his teams to two division and three Section 9 championships. He was named the American Baseball Coaches Association District 1 high school coach of the year in 2004.
