U.S energy agency seeks public input on river proposal

OGDENSBURG — The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will be collecting public comment on Alliance Energy's proposal to generate electricity using underwater currents from the St. Lawrence River.

The deadline for submission is July 11.

Alliance proposes to generate up to 110 megawatts of electricity using underwater turbines at four locations around Ogdensburg.

The company is seeking a preliminary permit to study the currents of the river around Ogdensburg.

Written comments can be submitted to Secretary, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE, Washington, D.C., 20426.

Nine copies of the written comments must be submitted, along with the project number P-12961-000.

Copies of Alliance's application are now available at www.ferc.gov using the "eLibrary" link and entering the project number.
