WANAKENA — The towns of Fine and Clifton will have a joint meeting at 7 p.m. May 29 at the Ranger School regarding a Smart Growth Grant received by Fine.
The $98,250 grant over three years comes from a state Department of Environmental Conservation program.
Fine's award will pay for a part-time economic revitalization specialist who will work on development goals identified over the past decade.
Priorities include finding ways to clean up contamination at the former Jones & Laughlin Steel site at Star Lake, identifying year-round uses for community centers and the golf course, and lobbying and working to improve cell phone and high-speed Internet connections.
The town's partners include the town of Clifton, the Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corp. and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
