A Fort Drum woman who tried to set fire to a car in the Best Western Carriage House Inn parking lot in January pleaded guilty Friday in Jefferson County Court to third-degree attempted arson.

Jessica A. Davis,20, of 119 Lewis Ave., subsequently was sentenced to time served and a one-year conditional discharge.

She also was ordered to pay $2,020 to her victim in the form of a civil judgment.

She was accused of sticking a napkin into the spout of the gas tank of a 2007 Toyota Prius belonging to Sharica T. Jones, Prince Frederick, Md., on Jan. 7 and then lighting the paper in an effort to cause either a fire or an explosion.

She pulled out the paper and put out the fire after being approached by a hotel maintenance man, who asked what she was doing.

Miss Davis also used scissors to scratch the paint on the vehicle.

According to court documents, she was upset with Miss Jones because Miss Jones was inside the hotel, 300 Washington St., with a man with whom Miss Davis also had a relationship.

In court activity Thursday,Michael J. Desormeau,19, of 133 Palmer St., pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He subsequently was referred to Drug Court.

He was accused Jan. 31 of having five credit cards that had been stolen from Roger D. Fisk, Sackets Harbor. According to court documents, police observed Mr. Desormeau disposing of something behind a Coffeen Street convenience store and, upon checking, found the cards.

Police then tracked footprints in the snow to Mr. Desormeau's front door. The cards had been stolen from a vehicle.
