DENMARK — A Castorland motorcyclist was killed Tuesday in a collision with a pickup truck.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Department said Harold Petrus, 46, East Road, Lowville, turned left into a driveway on East Road and failed to see Richard Neely, 29, Van Amber Road, Castorland, approaching on his 2003 Honda motorcycle. Mr. Neely was unable to stop and struck Mr. Petrus's Ford pickup truck. He was ejected from the bike and suffered a severe head injury.

Castorland Fire Department and Lewis County Search and Rescue treated him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Petrus was charged with failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn. The Lewis County Sheriff's Department was assisted by state police.
