Copenhagen can expect more water problems
THURSDAY, JULY 3, 2008

To the residents of the village of Copenhagen, the ex-mayor got you again. Not only did he raise your water an exorbitant amount, he also raised your sewer charge. Plus he raised your village tax rate by 50 cents per thousand after the assessment was raised by the town. He then left town. He also hired an engineer and put him on village pay full time.

Why do we need a full-time engineer to tell you how to spend millions and not be responsible for anything?

Also, do we need to have the highest priced water in New York state, instead of one of the lowest?

The highest priced water will not improve as long as the mayor and the board do not have the lines and hydrants flushed out at least once or twice a year. The excuse they keep using — not enough water — is not true because they can be flushed in the fall and spring when the water is high. Does Matt Cooper get a paycheck from the village of Copenhagen plus Bernier & Carr?

He should with all the money the village has given them to do nothing because we still do not have water. Wonder what they have for an excuse now?

Let's see if the new mayor can wake up and stop all this wasteful spending.

Now Mr. Cooper feels that we should spend more money on the sewer system which he says is not large enough, which was designed to be expanded by 25 percent, but there has been no expansion since being built. Another mistake by engineers with no responsibility for mistakes.

When is this village going to wake up and ask why?

How many times does the board and mayor have to let these engineers rape the village and never be held responsible. Twice by present engineers and once by another firm.

Now Mr. Cooper feels we need new water meters, gasket-sealed manholes, laws to go to your house to see if you have a sump pump in a sanitary sewer.

He also feels we need new water lines in the village in the future. Can't you read between the lines? As long as Mr. Cooper is working for the village for pennies and for Bernier & Carr for thousands, who do you think he is going to be loyal to? My bet is it won't be the village interest.

Mr. Cooper and Bernier & Carr go up the food chain, and everyone in the village goes hungry.
