Louie Freda fired a no-hitter and struck out eight batters as Watertown shut out Harrisville 12-0 Saturday at Rand Field in the quarterfinals of the District 37 Little League tournament.
The victory catapulted the team to a berth in Wednesday's semifinal at 5 p.m. against host Plattsburgh. Massena and North Central South (Port Leyden) play Wednesday in the other semifinal.
Mikey Marra and Robin Massey hit back-to-back home runs to help Watertown beat Harrisville in the game, which was called after four innings.
The District 37 championship game is scheduled for July 12 at the Lewis County Fairgrounds in Lowville.

KERINS WINS IN LAKE PLACID
Darragh Kerins of Ireland rode Night Train to victory in the $75,000 Hermes Grandprix CSI 3 at the 31st annual I Love New York Horse Show at Lake Placid.
Four entries from the starting field of 35 qualified for a tie-breaking jump-off by riding without penalty over the 16-jump course.
Kerins won by finishing the 8-jump tiebreaker course fault-free in the fastest time of 46.27 seconds.

On Friday, former Carthage player Ryan Powell accounted for one goal and one assist for host Denver (6-2) in a Major League Lacrosse Western Conference game.
Former Immaculate Heart Central standout Brendan Loftus scored two goals for San Francisco (1-6).

Due to a photographer's error, a lacrosse player pictured in Saturday's Times was misidentified. Former Carthage player Tom Eighmey, who plays for Mercyhurst College, was defending Eddie Prevost.
