CANTON — St. Lawrence County legislators are expected to name S. Diane Wilby their interim Department of Social Services commissioner.

Ms. Wilby, the deputy commissioner, has worked for the county for almost 19 years. Legislators will make the appointment at a special session before Monday's Services Committee meeting.

Commissioner James W. Davis is retiring Friday. He came to the county in 2003 after five years as commissioner in Lewis County. Ms. Wilby served as interim commissioner during that search.

A search committee is reviewing applications for the commissioner's position.

Ms. Wilby's interim appointment will include a pay raise to $79,473, which is the bottom of the commissioner's range.
