LOWVILLE — Lewis County's second annual household hazardous waste collection day will be held in a week.
The event, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the solid waste transfer station on Route 26 just north of the village, will allow county residents, at no charge, to drop off some garbage not allowed in the regular waste stream.
Pesticides, adhesives, antifreeze, polishes and waxes, televisions, computer-related equipment, driveway sealers, oil-based paints and stains, household cleaning products, miscellaneous vehicle fluids, solvents, home chemistry sets, corrosives and photography chemicals will be accepted.
Latex paint, smoke detectors, unsorted solid waste, tires, automobile batteries, construction or demolition debris, asbestos and materials containing polychlorinated biphenyls, waste oil, ammunition and explosives, medications and infectious waste, business and agricultural waste and propane cylinders will not be accepted.
