Police accuse 6 people of intoxicated driving

The following motorists were charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Michael A. Palmieri, 23, of 10410 Fifth Armored Division Drive, Fort Drum, was found by military patrol walking along Route 3, Hounsfield, at 12:45 a.m. Saturday. State police, who responded, said Mr. Palmieri was attempting to walk back to the base from where his car went off the road.

Troopers said his blood alcohol content was 0.16 percent. Under state law, a result of 0.08 percent BAC or more constitutes intoxication.

State police later charged Mr. Palmieri with third-degree assault after investigating a fight that occurred at Ontario Place, Sackets Harbor, earlier that night. The Fort Drum man is accused of punching Brian Bennett in the face, head and back.

■ Eric S. Widrick, 22, Croghan, was charged by Lewis County sheriff's deputies after a one-vehicle accident at 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Old State Road, Croghan. Deputies said Mr. Widrick, who was not injured in the rollover accident, registered a 0.14 percent BAC. He told deputies he swerved to avoid a deer, and also was charged with failure to keep right.

■ Joan M. Sabin, 45, of 50 Main St., Helena, was stopped by state police Saturday on Route 131 in Massena. Troopers said her BAC was 0.18 percent and charged her with aggravated DWI. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

■ Jonathan A. Gleasman, 29, of 136 West St., Boonville, was stopped Sunday by state police on West Road, Leyden. He had a BAC of 0.11 percent, troopers said. He also was charged with having a loud exhaust.

■ Eric A. Bonno, 21, of 577 Glenmeal Road, Pierrepont, was stopped by Canton police Saturday on County Route 25, Canton, and was said to have a BAC of 0.15 percent.

■ Brian D. Pryce, 46, Potsdam, was charged by Potsdam village police early Sunday on Main Street. Police said he had a BAC of 0.17 percent.
