We were informed that Lyme waterfront people pay more in taxes, therefore, should have the say regarding wind turbines. Indeed they should pay more. There are more waterfront people compared to country landowners, and waterfront people own the prime real estate.
After reading the majority of the surveys, I have found many waterfront landowners in favor of wind but not on the water, which I can understand. Many are pro-wind and feel the need for alternative energy.
I would be interested in knowing just how many Lyme board members read the so-called surveys in their entirety. I have read almost all of them and found the majority in favor of wind turbines east of 12E, on Point Peninsula and even Three Mile Point.
I don't understand how you can compile the results of the surveys without reading the entire survey. Were the surveys even read by our Lyme boards, or was the zoning law written by those few who were totally against wind and turbines from the beginning? How many untruths have we been told from the beginning of this process? I feel integrity is lacking in a few of our local leaders.
By the way, the majority of pro-wind group members do not own enough land to have a turbine and would not be blessed financially except through the town of Lyme receiving benefits as well as the school and fire department, to name a few.
