POTSDAM — Jeffrey G. Foerster, 54, of 25 Livingston Road, West Stockholm, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, second-degree assault and resisting arrest Saturday morning.
Sheriff's deputies said Mr. Foerster crashed his 2007 Toyota on Russell Turnpike Road in the town of Parishville at around 8 a.m. and left the scene.
He then wrestled with deputies and broke his finger when they found and charged him at the impound lot in the village of Potsdam, where police had brought the vehicle.
Deputies said Mr. Foerster registered a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.
Mr. Foerster also was charged with failure to reduce speed. He was treated at Canton-Potsdam Hospital for a broken pinky finger after his struggle with deputies.
He was arraigned in Potsdam Village Court and ordered held in St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Also charged with DWI:
■ Jennifer L. Watson, 20, of 22557 Baldwin Road, Dexter, charged at 3:07 a.m. Saturday in the town of Orleans, state police said. Police said her BAC was 0.08 percent. She was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in Orleans Town Court.
