Working people struggling to get by

To me, the system we live in is backwards. Who are the only people worried about high gas and heating fuel prices? Who are the only people worried about the cost of food, medical, dental and eyeglasses?

I'll tell you who is worried. It's the people on a fixed income who worked their whole life and the working families trying to exist.

What really blows my mind is that the people on welfare are not worried if gas and fuel go to $20 per gallon. They probably have no idea what fuel costs now. I guess that's what it is when you have no worries.

How about the bad guys and girls? They live in our prison system with no worries about housing, food, heat, medical, dental and eyeglasses.

I wonder how many of our elderly will cut meds, cut food, cut down on heat? The working families in some cases are falling behind every week.

Why is it that people on welfare can go to Bingo seven days per week or play scratch-off lottery tickets seven days per week? Why can they drink beer and smoke cigarettes? All of the above are not necessities; they are luxuries.

I believe if we took all these luxuries away, it wouldn't just be the working people and the elderly on very small fixed incomes who would suffer.
