8 drivers facing DWI charges

The following face charges of driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Mark S. Cuppernell, 49, of 23151 Kitto Marina Drive, Dexter, also was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies with failure to keep right and violation of a restricted license after he was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 4:28 a.m. Saturday on Stone Road, near Middle Road, in the town of Brownville.

Deputies said Mr. Cuppernell was driving a 2005 Chevrolet van registered to ABC Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, East Syracuse, when he fell asleep, causing the van to go off the road and hit a culvert pipe, utility pole and tree before coming to a stop behind a home at 22818 Stone Road.

He suffered minor bleeding to the face and was taken by Dexter ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, for treatment. Blood drawn at the hospital will be tested to determine an exact blood alcohol content.

■ Marsha L. McIntosh, 32, Potsdam, was charged early Saturday on outer Main Street in Potsdam by St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.

Ms. McIntosh also was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Her blood alcohol content was 0.13 percent, police said.

State law establishes 0.08 percent BAC as the threshold for intoxication.

■ Kevin A. Harris, 30, of 10644 S. Riva Ridge Loop, Fort Drum, was charged by Watertown police at 1:56 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot at 1309 State St. Mr. Harris allegedly had a BAC of 0.15 percent.

Mr. Harris was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building for processing and turned over to Fort Drum military police.

■ Jared R. Waters, 22, Watertown, also was charged by Alexandria Bay police with having a loud exhaust at 11:57 p.m. Friday on Route 12 in the village.

Mr. Waters allegedly had a BAC of 0.10 percent.

He was processed at the village police station and turned over to Fort Drum military police.

■ Gage W. Rych, 21, Troy, also was charged by Potsdam police with speeding at 12:03 a.m. Saturday on Market Street.

He allegedly was driving 44 mph in a 30-mph zone.

■ William R. Howland, 26, of 140 Scio St., rear apartment, Watertown, also was charged with having an inadequate muffler at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday on Route 12E in the town of Brownville.

He allegedly had a BAC of 0.08 percent.

■ Mark K. Vaisey, 34, of 7019 Route 56, Potsdam, was charged Aug. 15 after being stopped on Route 56 in Potsdam, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said.

He had a reading of 0.11 percent BAC, according to the sheriff's office.

■ Mary E. Brothers, 29, Winthrop, also was charged by Potsdam police with having an inadequate plate lamp at 2:38 p.m. Saturday on Market Street.

One motorist was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs:

■ Michael S. Mothersell, 29, of 39807 County Route 15, LaFargeville, also was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and moving from a lane unsafely after he was involved in a property-damage accident at 9:59 p.m. Thursday on Route 12 in the town of Alexandria.

Mr. Mothersell was allegedly impaired by stimulants and narcotic analgesics, deputies said.
