County drug sweep results in 23 arrests


CANTON — A drug sweep Tuesday across St. Lawrence County resulted in the arrest of 23 people.

The arrests stemmed from undercover drug purchases in the last 10 months by the county Drug Task Force. Drugs sold to undercover task force members included cocaine, ecstasy, hydrocodone, oxycodone, marijuana and prescription narcotics.

"The arrests of these people on drug charges are serious and it has taken a lot of time by numerous drug task force members and several law enforcement agencies," Sheriff Kevin M. Wells said.

Arrests began around 7 a.m. and lasted into the early afternoon. Most people were arrested at their homes by county sheriff's deputies, state police, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officers, Ogdensburg City Police and village officers in Canton, Gouverneur, Massena and Potsdam. The district attorney's office also assisted in the drug sweep.

Those charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance are:

n Gouverneur residents Joseph F. Mudge, 45, of 552 Sylvia Road; Richard L. Matott, 51, of 15 Waid St., and Jessica L. Prashaw, 27, of Battle Hill Road.

n Massena residents Donald P. Ladue, 43, of 123 Main St.; Brian N. Gray, 26, of 6 Lincoln Place; Terry L. McGregor Jr., 20, of Center Street; Anne T. Musante, 46, of 6 Middlebury Ave.; Tina L. Savage, 40, of 210 Bayley Road, and Bobby Jo Secore, 37, of 14 Dana St.

n Ogdensburg residents Erin A. Irvin, 23, of 815 Morris St.; Amy L. Corrice, 44, and Percy R. Bresett, 49, both of 200 Paterson St.; Derek J. Denny, 27, of 118 Oak St.; Eric L. Peets, 22, and Julie A. Kirk, 27, both of 1423 Ford St., Apt. 1, and Edwin J. Lake, 45, of 5764 County Route 6.

n Richard P.J. Teriele, 18, of Dry Bridge Road, Heuvelton.

n Katie L. King, 19, of 1120 Dodge Lane, Grovetown, Ga.

n Canton resident James W. Knapton, 27, of Jameson Road.

Charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance is Scott M. Fournier, 35, of North Raquette Road.

Thomas J. Scovil, 26, of 929 Route 72, Parishville, was charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and felony criminal sale of marijuana.

Megan B. Larock, 27, of 73 River Lane, Ogdensburg, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Amanda L. Robinson, 31, of 8 Buck St., Apt. D, Canton, was charged with petit larceny.

More arrests are pending.
