NNY police report several DWI arrests

SOME ACCIDENTS: Motorists face various other charges in Jefferson, St. Lawrence counties

The following people are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Melvern J. Allen-Peart Jr., 23, of 320 Prospect St., was charged by Watertown police at 2:45 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Arsenal Street. He also was charged with passing a red light and unlicensed operation. His blood alcohol content was at 0.08 percent, the threshold for intoxication under state law, police said. He was ordered held on $250 bail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

■ Colter L. Whitmore, 26, of 203 Brown Blvd., Brownville, was charged by state police at 9:20 p.m. Friday at General Brown High School, Dexter. He also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated unlicensed operation and unsafe backing. He was released on $500 bail.

■ Robert J. Gordon, 25, of 10642 S. Riva Ridge Loop, Fort Drum, was charged by state police at 12:25 a.m. Saturday on State Street. He also was charged with moving from lane unsafely. His BAC was 0.09 percent, police said.

■ Patrick K. Crump, 45, of 25949 Route 12, Watertown, was charged by state police at 9:35 p.m. Saturday on Route 16 in the town of LeRay following an accident.

Mr. Crump allegedly left the road on the south shoulder while driving his 1996 Mitsubishi, fled the scene and was located by state police on Route 37. His BAC was 0.12 percent, police said.

He also was charged with unsafe speed, driving across hazard markings and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

■ James W. Bombard, 42, Watertown, was stopped by city police at 11:32 p.m. Saturday on the 500 block of Cooper Street. Police said his BAC was 0.16 percent. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

■ Zachary L. Piche Jr., 17, of 27892 Three Mile Point North, Three Mile Bay, was stopped by city police Sunday on the 500 block of Gotham Street. His BAC was 0.14 percent, police said. He also was charged with failure to keep right and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said he had a 15-year-old male passenger.

■ Adam R. Smith, 24, Keeseville, was charged by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department deputies at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, after he was observed driving erratically in the Canton Sunoco gas station parking lot. His BAC was 0.12 percent, deputies said.

■ Staci M. Young, 18, Hammond, was charged early Friday after sheriff's deputies saw her strike the curb on Leroy Street in the village of Potsdam. Her BAC was 0.16 percent, deputies said.

■ Jacob P. Winterkorn, 18, of 50 Bram Hill Drive, Rochester, was charged early Saturday after he lost control of his car and drove into a ditch along Route 68 in the town of Canton. Sheriff's deputies said he tested at 0.12 percent BAC. He also was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign on Irish Settlement Road.

■ John J. Haney, 50, of 1561 Route 458, St. Regis Falls, was charged by sheriff's deputies at 9:30 p.m. Saturday after a traffic stop on Route 11B in the town of Hopkinton. His BAC was 0.12 percent, deputies said. He also was charged with speeding.

■ Penelope D. Riley, 46, of 4 Keefe Lane, Ogdensburg, was charged early Sunday after a traffic stop on County Route 27 in the town of Lisbon. Sheriff's deputies said she had a BAC of 0.15 percent. Ms. Riley also was charged with failure to keep right.

■ Stanley H. Dubray, 51, of 9 Bishop Ave., Massena, was charged by state police Saturday after a traffic stop on North Raquette River Road in the town of Massena. His BAC was 0.14 percent, police said. He also was charged with passing in a no-passing zone.

■ Kristopher R. Lancto, 31, of 35 Austin St., Gouverneur, also was charged Sunday with failure to keep right and having excessive window tint on his vehicle after being stopped on County Route 24 in the town of Edwards, state police said. He registered a 0.16 percent BAC.

■ Aaron M. Stiles, 27, of 6166 County Route 27, Canton, was charged Sunday after being stopped on County Route 27 in the town of Canton, state police said. His BAC wasn't available.

■ Aaron A, Pray, 36, of 1309 Knox St., Ogdensburg, was charged Sunday after being stopped in the town of Oswegatchie, state police said. His BAC was 0.13 percent, they said.
