HEUVELTON — Robert F. Gooshaw, 75, of 174 Union St., died Tuesday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
Mr. Gooshaw was a maintenance worker for St. Joseph's Nursing Home for 39 years, retiring in 1994.
Born Dec. 10, 1932, in Norfolk, he was a son of Joseph and Margaret LaVare Gooshaw.
He married Rita White on Dec. 7, 1973, at their home in Heuvelton, with Justice Arlington Walker officiating. He previously was married to Janice Barbour.
He served in the Army from 1953 to 1954 in Korea and received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Gooshaw was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member and past treasurer of Masonic Lodge 573, DePeyster. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Robert, of Willet, Randy, Wisconsin, and Kevin, Heuvelton; three daughters and a son-in-law, Robin Gooshaw and Kim and Thomas Broadhead, all of Wynantskill, and Molly Gooshaw, Heuvelton; three brothers and their wives, Allen and Audrey, Heuvelton, Thomas and Peggy, Ogdensburg, and Timothy and Sandra, Massena; two sisters, Diane Kodya, Liverpool, and Maureen Sherman, Ogdensburg; a half sister, Helen Hammil, Ogdensburg; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Raymond, and three brothers, David, Gordon and Donald, died before him.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 4 in Notre Dame Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
