CONSTABLE — A 9-year-old girl died Monday morning of injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle collision at Route 30 and County Route 56 in the town of Constable, according to state police.

The name of the child was not released pending notification of her mother.

Police said the collision occurred at 6:50 a.m. when Alexander J. Robinson, 16, Constable, started to turn his northbound pickup truck left in front of a southbound car driven by Maurice Bettez, 51, Malone.

The girl was a rear seat passenger in the Bettez auto and was wearing a seat belt, police said. She died en route to CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, police said.

Mr. Bettez was treated for a leg fracture, and Mr. Robinson suffered a broken nose.

Troopers charged Mr. Robinson with failure to yield right of way.
