Chase Mills man, 52, pleads guilty to rape charge in incident with 14-year-old

CANTON — A Chase Mills man admitted Wednesday in St. Lawrence County Court to having sex with a girl under age 15.

Donald F. Premo, 52, Route 1, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree rape, a felony. The plea agreement calls for him to serve from 11/2 to 3 years in state prison when sentenced Jan. 12. He will also have to register as a sex offender when released from prison.

Premo admitted to having sex in April with a 14-year-old girl in the village of Massena and providing her cigarettes. He was also accused of looking to buy panties from a then-15-year-old girl last June.

He was originally charged with second-degree rape, a felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Premo accepted the plea deal made by prosecutors before a suppression hearing. County Public Defender Brian D. Pilatzke was seeking to suppress statements made by his client to Massena village police officers.
