Seven face DWI, related charges

The following motorists were charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Kari L. Conant, 24, of 1030 County Route 12, Gouverneur, also was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to keep right at 2:52 a.m. Saturday on County Route 190 in the village of Brownville.

Ms. Conant allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent. State law says a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes intoxication.

Ms. Conant was arraigned before Brownville Town Justice Richard M. Parker and committed to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $3,500 bail.

■ Espada R. Rosa, 30, of 1023 State St., Watertown, also was charged by city police with unreasonable speed and refusing to submit to a field sobriety test at 12:13 a.m. Saturday on the 1600 block of State Street. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.16 percent.

■ Bruce K. Demorest Jr., 26, of 16421 Route 11S, Watertown, also was charged by city police with unlawful possession of marijuana at 12:39 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of West Main Street.

Mr. Demorest allegedly had a BAC of 0.14 percent. Police said they stopped him for questioning on an unspecified incident that had occurred at 519 W. Main St.

■ Christopher D. Simmons Jr., 21, of 4 Armored Division Drive, Building 10134, Apt. 112, Fort Drum, also was charged by state police with speeding on Interstate 81 northbound in the town of Pamelia and making an unsafe lane change and speeding on Route 11 in the town of LeRay. Police said they clocked him at 88 mph on Interstate 81 and at 80 mph on Route 11. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.11 percent.

■ Duane P. Dibble, 31, of 113 Lisbon St., Heuvelton, was charged after he was involved in a one-car property-damage accident at 3:09 a.m. Saturday on Route 812 in the town of Oswegatchie. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.17 percent.

■ Charles S. Olmstead, 23, of 72 Coon Road, Canton, was charged by state police at 10:35 p.m. Friday on County Route 17 in the town of Russell. He also was charged with failure to keep right and unlawful possession of marijuana.

■ Justin A. Gibbs, 28, Sandy Creek, was charged by state police at 1 a.m. Saturday on Route 104 in the town of New Haven.
