Four people have been indicted on drug charges for allegedly having cocaine earlier this month at a Mechanic Street residence.
Kevin T. Holder,44, of 149 Mechanic St.,Jonathan M. Crandall,34, of 7389 Charnick Drive, town of Lorraine,Ravan R. Frangione,18, of 604 Pine St., andTerry J. Schmitte,54, of 101 St. Lawrence Ave. W., Brownville, each face charges they possessed cocaine Dec. 5 at Mr. Holder's residence.
Mr. Holder faces two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and single counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. It is alleged he had scales used to weigh drugs for resale and allowed his residence to be used as a place for people to gather to sell drugs.
Mr. Crandall faces three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and single counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, while Miss Frangione and Mr. Schmitte face charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police went to the residence looking for a person after a concerned family member called them. Police allegedly observed activity, involving crack cocaine, through an open window and were allowed into the house.
The charges against the four were contained in grand jury indictments handed up Thursday in Jefferson County Court. In other indictments:
James R. Purvis Jr.,39, Watertown, faces three counts of first-degree criminal contempt and single charges of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.
It is alleged that he threw a knife at Michelle R. Ricks during a Sept. 13 domestic dispute and that he yelled at, pushed and kicked the victim, who held an order of protection against him.
Corey R. Lydon,31, Watertown, is charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment. It is alleged he grabbed Colleen A. Murphy and shoved her backwards on a staircase, causing her to fall down several stairs. She held an order of protection against him at the time.
Jane S. Reichard,34, Evans Mills, faces two counts each of second-degree forgery and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, as well as single counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
It is alleged she forged a personal check belonging to her estranged husband, Israel M. Reichard, and cashed it for $300 on July 9 in the town of LeRay. It is further alleged she forged a second check of Mr. Reichard's on July 15 for $2,000.
Kimberly N. Lashure,21, Watertown, faces three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy and single counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and first-degree criminal nuisance.
She is accused of possessing more than a half an ounce of heroin with the intent to sell it in early October in the town of Adams. It is also alleged that she arranged with others to have the drug transported into the county. She is further accused of providing heroin to another person to sell it on early November in Watertown and of allowing her Waltham Street residence to be used as a place for drug sales.
Jesse D. Weeks,27, Dexter, is charged with first- and second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts each of petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
He is accused of stealing money forcibly from Jack A. Strader on Nov. 16 on Dexter. He allegedly struck Mr. Strader in the head with a rifle scope he had stolen from the victim, causing cuts and bruises to Mr. Strader's head and ear.
Gary A. Collins,30, Watertown, is charged with third-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, second-degree harassment, unlawful possession of marijuana and multiple traffic offenses, including leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.
Police say he fled the scene a Dec. 2, 2007, accident on Salmon Run Mall Road that he caused while passing in a no-passing zone. After police caught up with him near Ontario Village apartments on Coffeen Street, he allegedly struggled with and threatened Sheriff's Detective Todd L. O'Brien before shoving, striking and spitting in the face of the detective. He also is accused of damaging a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee belonging to the sheriff's department by head-butting the vehicle.
The grand jury also returned two sealed indictment, one sealed no-bill and one open no-bill, clearingTrey E. Messina,18, Watertown, of charges of second-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. The grand jury decided there was insufficient evidence to support an allegation that he had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in April.
