Police charge several people with driving while intoxicated

The following people are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Tabitha M. Rockhill, 29, of 479 County Route 7, Brushton, was charged Sunday after being stopped in the town of Bangor, state police said. She reportedly registered a 0.12 percent blood alcohol content. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication.

■ Kathy L. Sharpstene, 52, of 1225 Maple Ridge Road, DeKalb, was charged Sunday after being stopped on Pyrites-Russell Road in the town of Russell, state police said. She reportedly registered a 0.17 percent BAC.

■ Matthew P. McNally, 25, of 9774 Route 37, Ogdensburg, also was charged Sunday with several traffic infractions after being stopped on County Route 44 in the town of Waddington, state police said. His BAC wasn't available.

■ Samuel A. Johnson Jr., 49, County Route 125, Chaumont, was charged by Watertown police at 6:15 p.m. Sunday on Main Avenue with aggravated DWI, consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, operating a vehicle with suspended registration and having an inadequate plate lamp. He tested at 0.25 percent, police said. The threshold for aggravated DWI is 0.18 percent BAC.

■ Neil D. Cooke, 35, of 97 Pratt St., Rouses Point, was charged at 10:30 p.m. Friday after being pulled over on Franklin Street, Malone, state police said. Troopers said his BAC was 0.15 percent. He was arraigned in Malone Town Court and sent to the Franklin County jail, Malone, on $500 bail or $1,000 bond.

■ Michael P. O'Brien, 38, of 10 Grove St., Potsdam, also was charged early Saturday with resisting arrest and two other traffic violations after village police stopped his vehicle on Leroy Street, Potsdam. He allegedly resisted officers' efforts to place him in the patrol car when he was arrested. No BAC was given.

■ Maurice A. Lathan, 22, of Nolanville, Texas, was found by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 2:23 a.m. Saturday along Route 283. Mr. Lathan was eastbound in the town of Pamelia when his vehicle reportedly veered into a roadside snowbank. Deputies said his BAC was 0.17 percent.

■ Robby L. Morgia, 27, of 135 N. Rutland St., Apt. 3, Watertown, was stopped by city police at 11:11 p.m. Saturday on the 900 block of State Street. He also was charged with passing a red light. His BAC was 0.17 percent, police said.

■ Pablo Pak, 21, Fort Drum, was stopped by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 2:15 a.m. Sunday along Route 3 in the town of LeRay. His BAC was 0.10 percent, according to the sheriff's office. He also was charged with unlicensed operation.

■ John J. McGraw, 49, of 16986 County Route 59, Dexter, was arrested by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 6:10 p.m. Friday on Middle Road in the town of Brownville on charges of felony aggravated DWI and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle. Deputies listed his breath test result as 0.21 percent blood alcohol content. He is charged with a felony because he was convicted of felony DWI in 1999 in Jefferson County Court. He also had a DWI arrest in Watertown in 1994.

■ Thomas P. Cullen, 55, Childwold, was charged with felony DWI, his third DWI offense in a decade, Watertown police said. He also was charged with failure to keep right. He was stopped by Watertown police at 2:20 a.m. Sunday along the 100 block of Arsenal Street. Police said his BAC was 0.17 percent.
