Grand jury indicts Hammond man in sexual abuse of two young girls

CANTON — A registered sex offender was indicted on charges that he sexually abused two young girls.

Bruce M. Galloway, 52, of 20 S. Main St., Hammond, was indicted Monday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury on five counts of first-degree sexual abuse and three counts of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

He is accused of sexually abusing two girls under the age of 11 in 2001 and the summer of 2003, along with providing alcohol to them and a third girl in the summer of 2003.

He is a Level 1 sexual offender because he pleaded guilty in November 2006 to forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. He was accused of rubbing the breasts of a 9-year-old girl in July 2004 in a camping area at Can-Am Motorsports Park in LaFargeville and of providing alcohol to three minors at the camping area.

The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:

Justin Rathbun, 28, of 53 North St., Madrid, was charged with first- and second-degree criminal sexual act.

He is accused of having oral sexual contact with a 19-year-old mentally disabled man in August.

Dimarie Barbosa, 30, of 16 River Drive, Potsdam, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

She is accused of attempting to fill a forged prescription on July 15 at Kinney Drugs in the village of Potsdam.

John H. Dashnaw, 50, of 1302 Ford St., Ogdensburg, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

He is accused of cashing a forged tax return check for $3,956.57 on July 17 at the St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union in the city of Ogdensburg.
