Three face counts of drunken driving

ACCIDENT: Man cited with DWI after crashing vehicle police say was stolen from Pine Tree Inn

The following people face driving while intoxicated and associated charges:

■ Steven A. Roy, 26, of 5382 Dayan St., Lowville, was charged with felony DWI by Lewis County sheriff's deputies after crashing an allegedly stolen vehicle just before 3 a.m. Thursday.

He additionally is charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent and operating a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker.

Police said they received a report about 2:55 a.m. that a vehicle had been stolen from the Pine Tree Inn on Brantingham Road in the town of Greig. Minutes later, police received another call saying the vehicle had just gone off the road near the intersection of Brantingham and Greig roads.

Upon arrival, deputies saw a man, later identified as Mr. Roy, running from the accident scene down Brantingham Road. He was arraigned in Turin Town Court and sent to the Lewis County Jail, Lowville, on $5,000 bail.

■ Sandy J.D. Berlin, 18, of 26810 Libby Lane, Evans Mills, was charged by Watertown police at 3:12 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of South Meadow Street. He also was charged with failure to keep right and with having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

Police said his blood alcohol content was found to be 0.15 percent, which is above the state's minimum legal level of 0.08 percent to be considered intoxicated. He was turned over to military police with an appearance ticket for City Court.

■ Larry M. Mutchler, 28, Ellwood, Pa., was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies about 2 a.m. Wednesday on Eastern Boulevard. Police said his vehicle was stopped for speeding at 47 mph in a 30 mph zone, for which he also was charged.

His BAC was alleged to be 0.15 percent. He is to answer the charges in City Court.
