GOUVERNEUR — The village Board of Trustees has postponed a special meeting for Tuesday on cuts to the police department because of a scheduling conflict.
"I want as many board members there as possible," Mayor Dorothy L. Vorce said. "This is a very big decision."
The vote on the police department will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 in the municipal building.
The board is considering not filling a patrolman's position, eliminating a dispatcher and cutting the chief's job to half-time for a savings of $168,000 for the fiscal year that starts June 1.
