Police agencies charge 14 with drunken driving

The following are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Michael T. Gallegos, 23, Indianapolis, was charged Wednesday with aggravated driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, speeding, failure to signal a turn and driving across hazard markings after being stopped in the University Shopping Plaza on Route 11 in Canton, village police said. He registered a 0.21 percent blood alcohol content, police said. A BAC level of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

■ Nichole L. Harmer, 26, of 11 Cherry St., Potsdam, was stopped Friday morning by state police along state Route 56 in Norfolk. She also was charged with driving with a suspended license, having inadequate plate lamps and having an unregistered motor vehicle. Troopers said that her BAC was 0.11 percent and that she had six suspensions on her license. She was taken to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, with bail set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.

■ Juanita M. Martinez, 31, of 588 Route 420 Winthrop, was charged Thursday after being stopped on Route 37 in the town of Waddington, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. She registered a 0.16 percent BAC, deputies said.

■ Roger E. Platt, 59, Constableville, was stopped by Lewis County sheriff's deputies at 3:20 p.m. Friday while on Croniser Road, West Turin. Deputies said his BAC was 0.12 percent. Mr. Platt also was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.

■ Michael R. Church, 24, Constable, was charged with aggravated DWI after being stopped by Potsdam village police at 10:02 p.m. Friday while on Hamilton Street. He also was charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Police did not release his BAC.

■ Seth A. Bladen, 25, Otsego, Mich., was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies after a 1:48 a.m. stop Saturday on the 700 block of Coffeen Street. Deputies said he had a BAC of 0.16 percent. Mr. Bladen also was charged with driving without headlights and with having a broken windshield.

■ Vickie M. Chapman, 42, of 348 McCauslin Road, North Lawrence, was charged Thursday with felony DWI after being stopped on Route 11 in the town of Moira, state police said. She registered a 0.16 percent blood alcohol content. The felony count indicates a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years.

■ James B. Harmer, 22, of 146 Miles Road, Hermon, was charged Friday with aggravated DWI and several traffic infractions after being stopped in the village of Canton, village police said. He registered a 0.19 percent BAC, police said.

■ Sarah K. Smith, 25, Potsdam, also was charged Saturday by Potsdam village police with crossing hazard markings and driving with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent. Police responded about 2:20 a.m. to a report of a vehicle off the road on Lawrence Avenue in Potsdam and found Mrs. Smith in the vehicle.

■ Sean A. Carmichael, 22, Liberty, also was charged Saturday by Potsdam police with driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Police said they saw Mr. Carmichael's vehicle go the wrong way down Hamilton Street in Potsdam about 1 a.m.

■ Dennis M. Racicot, 42, Dow Road, Bombay, also was charged Saturday by state police with leaving the scene of an accident and following too closely. Troopers said Mr. Racicot failed to stop after hitting the car of Mona L. Allen, 43, of 2568 Route 11B, Bangor, on Route 95 in Moira. There were no injuries, police said.

■ Mark D. Durham, 49, Redwood, was stopped by state police at 11:50 p.m. Friday while driving on Elm Ridge Road, Philadelphia. Police said his BAC was 0.12 percent.

■ Fabian A. Rodgers, 21, Fort Drum, was stopped by state police at 1:06 a.m. Saturday while at Routes 37 and 342, Pamelia. Police said his BAC was 0.14 percent. He also was charged with speeding.

■ James D. Jantzi, 21, Boonville, was stopped by state police at 3:50 a.m. Saturday while driving on Route 12, Turin. Troopers said his BAC was 0.14 percent.
