POTSDAM — Jennifer A. Scheening, 45, North Utica, formerly of Potsdam, died Sunday at her home. She had been ill with cancer.


Mrs. Scheening was employed with the law firm of Costello, Cooney & Fearon, Syracuse. She previously was employed with the law firm of Robert Halliday, Potsdam.


Born Jan. 4, 1964, in Potsdam, daughter of Gerald "Joe" and Carolyn "Joan" LaBarge Deon, she was raised and educated in Potsdam and attended Canton Agricultural and Technical College.


She married Berry J. Scheening on Oct. 30, 1993, in Potsdam.


Surviving besides her husband and her mother, of Potsdam, are two daughters, Brianna M. Scheening and Taylor A. Scheening , both at home; a son, Mark A. Sharp, Utica; three sisters and their husbands, Carolyn and Steven LeBire, Massena, Lori and Kim Sprague, Potsdam, and Mary and Dan Boyer, Norwood; four brothers and their wives, Gerald and Marsha Deon, Michael and Marilyn Deon and Steven and Judy Deon, all of Potsdam, and Shawn and Karen Deon, Palatine Bridge, and three grandchildren.


A memorial Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Church, North Utica.


There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Heintz Funeral Service Inc., Utica.


In place of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice and Palliative Care Inc.
