Police charge seven with alcohol-related offenses

A Watertown man was charged early Friday with aggravated driving while intoxicated after city police say he struck two parked vehicles, then drove away.

Robert C. Elliott, 22, of 547 Morrison St., Apt. 2, also faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent and having a defective headlight. Police said he had a breath test reading of 0.20 percent blood alcohol content. A BAC level of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

The accident occurred about 12:10 a.m. in the 500 block of West Main Street, where his eastbound vehicle crossed the road and consecutively struck parked cars owned by Deborah A. Bancroft, 426 Cross St., and Dennis L. LaJuett, Calcium, police said. He was arrested 15 minutes later in the 100 block of North Massey Street, where he was halted for having a headlight out, police said.

Also charged with DWI and related offenses:

■ Devin V. Taft, 22, Potsdam, was charged Thursday after being stopped on Main Street in Potsdam when a passenger in his vehicle reportedly littered, Potsdam village police said. He registered a 0.12 percent blood alcohol content, police said.

■ Peter I. Harriman, 21, Aspen, Colo., also was charged Friday with several traffic infractions after being stopped on the St. Lawrence University campus, Canton village police said. He registered a 0.13 percent blood alcohol content, police said.

■ Dale E. LaRose, 35, West Potsdam, was charged by state police at 2:16 a.m. Saturday on Route 56 in the village of Potsdam. He also was charged with making an improper signal.

■ Lisa M. Snyder, 25, Moira, was charged by state police at 4:36 a.m. Saturday on Route 37 in the town of Louisville. She also was charged with having broken glass and improper license and driving on the shoulder.

■ Nancy A. White, 42, of 64 Snell Road, South Colton, was charged by state police Friday on Route 56 in Hannawa Falls. Her blood alcohol content was 0.10 percent, police said. She also was charged with resisting arrest and failure to keep right.

■ Dale R. Munn, 50, of 22932 Route 144, Black River, was stopped by military police at 1:45 a.m. Saturday at Fort Drum's Gas Alley gate. His BAC was 0.21 percent, state police said. He was charged with aggravated DWI and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Charged with driving while under the influence of drugs:

■ Kelly A. Murtha, 43, Theresa, also was charged Monday by state police with failure to obey police and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Troopers said Ms. Murtha drove past a border patrol checkpoint on Route 37 in Morristown and was found to be in possession of prescription drugs.
