Several people to answer DWI charges

The following are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Thomas V. Farns, 38, Colton, was charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and speeding at 47 mph in a 30-mph speed zone at 1:40 a.m. Friday on Main Street in Potsdam. He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.24 percent, police said. A reading of 0.18 percent blood alcohol content is the threshold for aggravated DWI in New York state.

■ Michael T. Medina, 48, of 5615 Forest Lake, San Antonio, Texas, was charged by Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies at 1:31 a.m. Thursday with aggravated DWI and refusing to take a breath test. He was driving his 2009 Chevrolet east on Route 342 in Pamelia when he got stuck in a snowbank.

■ Michael A. Chaffee, 24, Van Etten, was charged at 2:32 a.m. Saturday by Canton village police with aggravated DWI and traffic violations including failure to keep right and driving at a speed not reasonable and prudent. Mr. Chaffee hit a curb and lost a wheel on State Street in the village, near Riverside Drive.

■ Steven T. Grant, 31, of Rensselaer Falls, was charged Friday with misdemeanor DWI and failure to keep right after being stopped on Route 68 in the town of Lisbon, state police said. He registered a 0.15 percent BAC. State law establishes 0.08 percent BAC as the threshold for intoxication.

■ Daniel H. Kessinger, 54, Phoenixville, Pa., was charged by state police at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday after his vehicle went off Route 283 in the town of LeRay. Police said he had a breath test reading of 0.11 percent.

■ Antoinette L. Bigtree, 38, of 112 McGee Road, Hogansburg, was charged Tuesday after emergency dispatchers received a call about a domestic dispute on County Route 42 in the town of Massena, state police said. He registered a 0.14 percent blood alcohol content, police said.

■ Matthew Allen, 20, Norfolk, was charged Friday with snowmobiling while intoxicated, reckless operation and several traffic infractions after being stopped on Sober Street, Norfolk village police said. He refused to take a breath test, police said.

■ Penny A. Smith, 40, LaFargeville, was charged by state police at 2:50 a.m. Saturday with misdemeanor aggravated DWI and traffic infractions of failing to use the designated lane or driving on shoulders or slopes of the road. She was driving on Route 11 in LeRay. She registered a 0.19 percent BAC, state police said.

■ Trevor P. Beach, 24, Theresa, was charged by state police at 2:26 a.m. Saturday with DWI and crossing road hazard markings while driving on Route 181 in the town of Clayton. He registered a BAC of 0.11 percent.

■ Robert Rosado Jr., 32, of 7365 Route 11, Potsdam, was charged Friday after a traffic stop for failure to keep right and unsafe passing on Route 68 in Canton, according to sheriff's deputies. No blood alcohol content reading was available.

Charged with driving while under the influence of drugs:

■ Michael A. Russell, 21, Potsdam, was charged Wednesday with unlawful possession of marijuana and two traffic infractions after being stopped on Market Street, Potsdam police said. A passenger, Christopher L. Jandreau, 18, Potsdam, was cited with unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol under age 21 and consuming alcohol in a vehicle.
