I am writing about the recent transition from analog television transmission to the new and better digital television transmission.

I live 75 miles north of Watertown in the hamlet of Chase Mills. In preparation for the big event, I went out and purchased a new outdoor antenna and the required digital box.

I want to inform you that after the big Feb. 17 I made multiple attempts at trying to install my digital-to-analog box. To make a long story short, after multiple attempts to get the "box" to work and multiple calls to the Watertown stations, manufacturer of the "box" and the retail outlet, I found out that I was just out of the two Watertown stations' reception area. I will not be getting any signals, news or any type of programming under this new digital system.

The personnel at the Watertown station were very sympathetic but unable to help. I was told that the station had had a number of calls with very much the same problems that I was experiencing.

If like me, you have no reception for the two Watertown national affiliates, please contact Rep. John McHugh. His office has already had a number of calls on this issue, and he is working on this problem. Congressman McHugh needs to know how widespread this problem is. If you are not receiving any type of reception, give his local office a call at 782-3150.
