OGDENSBURG — A slip on the ice apparently killed Lisbon resident Joyce D. Putney.

St. Lawrence County Coroner Russell B. Lawrence III said Wednesday the 78-year-old injured her head when she slipped on ice near her vehicle and the back entrance of her McFadden Road home. Her death was a result of a subdural hematoma, or a blood clot on the brain.

Dr. Samuel A. Livingstone, a Jefferson County medical examiner, conducted the autopsy Tuesday evening at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center and ruled her death accidental.

She apparently had just returned from grocery shopping.
