A man who was urinating in the glare of a vehicle's headlights early Saturday had been driving drunk, a Jefferson County deputy sheriff charged.
Brian P. Averell, 22, Great Bend, was arrested at 3:20 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated and public lewdness in the parking lot at Blue Seal Feeds, 200 Willow St. He was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.12 percent, according to the sheriff's office. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or more constitutes intoxication.
A deputy reported that he saw what he believed to be a person urinating in front of a car. Based on statements made by Mr. Averell and his companions, Mr. Averell was alleged to have driven from a city bar to where they had parked, the deputy reported.
Also facing DWI and related charges:
■ Joseph D. Rivers, 45, Gouverneur, is charged with aggravated DWI, failure to keep right and speeding at 58 mph in a 40- mph speed zone of Route 26 in Alexandria Bay after being stopped by state park police at 12:15 a.m. Sunday. Police said he had a test result of 0.18 percent BAC, matching the state's threshold for aggravated DWI.
■ Jean D. Didas, 26, of 247 Central St., Watertown, also faces an aggravated DWI charge, lodged by Watertown police at 11:55 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of State Street, where she also was cited with failure to keep right. Her test result was 0.21 percent BAC, police said.
■ Keith B. Smith, 20, Pulaski, is charged by state police with DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation, driving on the shoulder of the highway, operating an uninspected vehicle and having defective backup lights. He was arrested at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday on Route 11 in the town of Ellisburg. Troopers listed his test reading as 0.08 percent BAC.
■ Holly C. Boname, 23, Clayton, was arrested by sheriff's deputies at 2:25 a.m. Sunday on Bellew Avenue in Watertown, where she also was cited with making an improper turn. She tested at 0.11 percent, according to the sheriff's office.
■ Brian M. Bennett, 22, Fort Drum, was charged at 6 a.m. Monday by sheriff's deputies after his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on County Route 46 in the town of Philadelphia and overturned. He also is cited with failure to reduce speed at a hazard and failure to keep right. Deputies listed his BAC as 0.14 percent.
