Norfolk man indicted by jury on charges of sexual abuse

CANTON — A Norfolk man was indicted Thursday on charges that he sexually abused two teenage girls.

Michael S. Sassone,62, of 20 W. Main St., was indicted by a St. Lawrence County grand jury on two counts each of third-degree criminal sexual act, third-degree sexual abuse and child endangerment.

He is accused of having sexual contact in October with two 16-year-old girls and sexually abusing them in May and October in the town of Norfolk.

The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:

Anthony G. Stark,22, of 906 Franklin St., Ogdensburg, was charged with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

He is accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl in April 2008 and pulling a 10-year-old girl into his bedroom in July 2007 and trying to kiss her while he blocked her from leaving the room. Both incidents happened in the city of Ogdensburg, according to the indictment.

Douglas C. Kerr,52, of 1068 County Route 36, Louisville, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and third-degree menacing.

He is accused of attempting to run over his brother, Michael Kerr, who was riding an all-terrain vehicle, with a recreational vehicle Nov. 30 at Oliver Road and County Route 39. A day later, when state police troopers visited Douglas Kerr's home to arrest him, they found 15.9 pounds of marijuana inside.

Brian P. Russell,21, of 27 Austin Ridge Road, Norwood, was charged with second-degree assault.

He is accused of punching and kicking Preston Bond on Nov. 1 on Mechanic Street in the village of Norwood.

All four will be arraigned April 27 in St. Lawrence County Court.
