Cavaliers roll to lacrosse win

WHITNEY POINT — Rob Kunz buried six goals, and Immaculate Heart Central shut out Whitney Point in three quarters to pick up a 16-2 nonleague boys lacrosse victory Monday.

Ben Winkler and Marcus Emerson each contributed four goals and an assist for Immaculate Heart Central (4-2). Michael McGraw handed out four assists.

Ryan Thorpe and Sam Sofing scored goals for Whitney Point (1-5).

SOFTBALL

SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, AMSTERDAM 0

Jena LaLone tossed a four-hit shutout for Spartans during the Muddville Tournament.

Katie Lyndaker finished 2-for-2 for South Jefferson, which completed the first triple play in tournament history, coach Steve Randall said.

With runners on second and third with no outs in the fourth, Danielle Bartlett caught a fly ball, and threw out a runner at home, all before catcher Allison Hall caught the other runner in an attempt to advance to third.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 7,

VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL 1

Sophomore Katie Murphy earned her first varsity victory, hurling a one-hit victory for the Spartans at the Muddville Tournament.

Allison Hall went 4-for-4 for the Spartans (2-0), while MacKenzie Hall, Lyndaker and Murphy each provided a pair of hits.

GENERAL BROWN 6, WELLSVILLE 1

Jennifer Niles went 3-for-3 for the Lions during the Grand Strand Softball Classic at Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Chelsea Cavellier, Katie Darrah, Karilynn Pfister each produced two hits for General Brown (0-1).

BASEBALL

HOLLAND PATENT 16,

SOUTH LEWIS 3

Holland Patent posted six runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings, and 14 hits, during a nonleague game at Turin.

A.T. Ripp went 2-for-2 and stole three bases for the Falcons (0-1). Ethan Martin had a triple and drove in a run.
