Fabulous Thunderbirds to play June 21

The Disabled Persons Action Organization has announced a fourth concert, which completes its Summer Concert Series.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds will perform at 2 p.m. June 21 at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds Arena, Coffeen Street. The group is known for such hits as "Tuff Enuff" and "Wrap It Up."

The band's co-founder, Kim Wilson, is the sole original member in the group. It started as a straight blues band, but has since incorporated a variety of different musical styles.

In 1979, The Fabulous Thunderbirds released its first self-titled album. It was primarily blues influenced and became a cult classic. The band has recorded more than 20 albums.

Opening for the Fabulous Thunderbirds will be the Syracuse-based band Double Barrel Blues Band, a four-member blues-rock group. The band's new CD, "Bad Bad Feeling" is getting international blues radio play in Macedonia, Argentina, Norway and France.

Separately, not part of the summer series, the DPAO will sponsor one presentation of the touring production of the Broadway hit"Bye, Bye Birdie"onMay 8at Watertown High School.
