LOWVILLE — Randy L. Slawson, Jr., 21, of 9362 Farney Rd., Lowville, NY, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, where he was pronounced shortly after admission. He was taken there by ambulance after being stricken earlier at a residence in Croghan. His cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy performed on Friday at Lewis County General.

Born December 14, 1987, in Lowville, NY, the son of Randy L. and Dawn M. LaPlante Slawson, he was graduated from Beaver River Central School in 2006. While at Beaver River Central, he was a member of the high school's wrestling and football teams.

Following high school, he worked at Kraft Foods in Lowville, as a dump truck operator and in the gravel pit for V. S. Virkler & Sons, Lowville, as a night stock clerk for Walmart in Lowville, and was currently employed in the maintenance department at Carthage Area Hospital, Carthage.

Among his many favorite pastimes, he enjoyed driving and tinkering with his 1984 Mustang, 4 wheeling, listening to music and playing electric guitar. He especially liked helping out with the Beaver River Central School's pee wee wrestling program.

Mr. Slawson was a communicant of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Croghan.

Surviving besides his parents of Lowville, are a sister, Ashley L. Slawson, of Albany, NY, his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Barbara Slawson, of Constableville, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Amanda Slawson, who died on October 12, 1985, and his maternal grandparents, Crandall and Anne LaPlante.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. prayer service at the Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass from St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Daniel Chapin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Carmichael Hill Cemetery in the Town of Northwestern.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, at the funeral home.
