MORRISTOWN — Police, using DNA evidence, have made an arrest in a nearly two-year-old burglary of a Brier Hill home.

Julian S. McLean, 21, of 616 Childs Road, DeKalb, was charged Thursday with two counts of felony third-degree burglary, a state police investigator said. His DNA was matched to evidence found at the scene.

He was accused of breaking into a home May 7, 2007, and stealing a safe containing personal items and more than $3,000 cash. The opened safe later was found in the yard.

Investigators said a substance left on the safe was sent to the state police lab for analysis. A DNA match was made to Mr. McLean.

He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
