Man indicted over alleged sex with 11-year-old

CANTON — A Potsdam man was indicted Monday on charges of having sex with a girl under age 13 in the summer of 2007.

Richard L. LaPage Jr., 35, of 64 Root Road, was indicted Monday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury on two counts each of predatory sexual assault against a child and first-degree criminal sexual act, all felonies, and one count of misdemeanor child endangerment.

He is accused of having sex with a then 11-year-old girl on July 16, 2007, in the town of Lisbon and Aug. 17, 2007, in the town of Colton. He's out on bail.

The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:

Herbert M. Planty, 28, of 184 Emerson Road, Canton, was charged with two counts of third-degree mischief and one count of third-degree intimidating a witness.

He is accused of pouring sugar May 21 into the gasoline tanks of vehicles owned by Regan Todd and Timothy Green in the town of Canton. He also reportedly threatened a witness in the case Dec. 1.

Richard Morganti Sr., 59, Buffalo, was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and attempted second-degree assault.

He is accused of violating a protection order for Maureen E. Burns in late August and threatening to kill her while squeezing her throat July 28 in the village of Canton.

Paul E. Price, 45, of 192 County Route 46, Massena, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.State police said Mr. Price was ticketed on Nov. 15. County Route 46 after his vehicle went off the road Nov. 15.
