CANTON — Two St. Lawrence County men were jailed Saturday following an investigation into the alleged sale of cocaine at a Miner Street restaurant.

Members of the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force charged Ainsley N. "Matthew" Edwards, 25, of 55 Sweeney Road, Potsdam, with first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and Rafael Santos, 25, of 214 Randall Road, Lisbon, with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to village police. They were arraigned and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, with bail set at $15,000 for Mr. Edwards and $20,000 for Mr. Santos.

Mr. Edwards, who in 2006 opened Leonie's Jamaican Cuisine, was charged with selling more than two ounces of cocaine to undercover officers, while a search of Mr. Santos's home allegedly turned up a large quantity of the drug. Police said they seized 17 ounces of cocaine, with a street value of about $45,000, and about $5,000 in cash.
