Police accuse 11 of DWI

The following people are charged by police with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Brett J. Mason, 23, Norwood, was charged by state police at 9:20 p.m. Friday on the Morley-Potsdam Road in the town of Potsdam.

He also was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, speeding and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

■ Paul J. Reed, 53, Newton Falls, was charged by state police at 1:55 a.m. Saturday on County Route 60 in the town of Fine.

He was charged with resisting arrest and aggravated DWI, which requires a minimum blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent. Mr. Reed's BAC was 0.26 percent.

■ Paul J. Young, 43, Winthrop, was charged by state police at 2:50 a.m. Saturday on County Route 49 in the town of Stockholm.

He also was charged with a stop sign violation and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle.

His BAC was 0.12 percent. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or more constitutes intoxication.

■ Erik J. Swinyer, 20, of 1081 County Route 60, Newton Falls, was charged by St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies at 12:32 a.m. Saturday in the town of Fine after an investigation of an accident in which his car hit a utility pole.

He was charged with speeding and aggravated DWI. His BAC was 0.19 percent, deputies said.

■ Frank R. Rodriguez, 27, Evans Mills, was charged with aggravated DWI after being stopped by state police at 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 342, Pamelia.

■ Jeanne Lee, 44, Tupper Lake, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal after she was stopped on LeBoeuf Street, Tupper Lake village police said. She registered a 0.17 percent blood alcohol content, they said.

■ Matthew D. Berghorn, 22, Havelock, N.C., additionally faces charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and having a loud exhaust as a result of his arrest by Watertown police at 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Washington Street. Police said he had no New York state permit for the .40-caliber pistol that was in his truck. His BAC was 0.08 percent, police said.

■ Jayson G. Busler, 36, Lorraine, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies on Route 11 in the town of Watertown, where he initially was cited with driving his motorcycle at 82 mph. He had a 0.17 percent BAC, deputies said.

■ Benjamin J. Wynn, 27, of 1229 Faichney Drive, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police with driving while under the influence of drugs, failure to keep right, consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle and having inadequate lights at 2:15 a.m. Thursday on Mullin Street.

■ Justin C. Mann, 25, Naples, Fla., also was charged with failure to keep right and speeding by state police following a 2:50 a.m. accident Saturday on Route 126, Champion, one mile east of Sayre Road.

Troopers said Mr. Mann lost control of his vehicle while speeding, causing it to roll over several times before coming to rest. Mr. Mann, they said, suffered minor neck and back injuries and was taken to Carthage Area Hospital. Troopers did not yet have a BAC result from the blood drawn at the hospital.

■ Ty N. Aubin, 35, of 2449 Stoddard St., Copenhagen, was stopped at 10 p.m. Friday by Lewis County sheriff's deputies after allegedly honking his horn on Washington Street, Copenhagen, for no reason. Deputies said his BAC was 0.12 percent. He also was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and unnecessary use of horn.
