Grant D. Robinson, who still faces prosecution in a shooting incident in late November, also is now accused of causing damage to the $800,000 synthetic turf athletic field at Watertown High School, according to Watertown police.

Mr. Robinson, 19, of 1215 Washington St., was charged Tuesday with reckless endangerment to property, a misdemeanor. He is ordered to appear in City Court.

Police allege that about 11:30 p.m. May 6, he threw lit cigarettes on the carpet, causing burns.

Terry N. Fralick, district superintendent, said footage from surveillance cameras showed Mr. Robinson and some other youths on the three-year-old turf at the time of the incident. He declined to elaborate about the evidence.

No school activities were occurring at the time, he said.

The extent of damage and how much repair will be needed have not been determined, he said.

Mr. Robinson awaits grand jury action in connection with the Nov. 29 incident in which he allegedly fired a shotgun through a door at his home, wounding his sister, Carol, 20, in the back, and Shane P. Dyer, 21, in the chest.

City police charged him with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
